Isobar Create 48 NFC Hackathon - Sept. 13-15, 2011

Are you a developer looking to create the next generation of mobile interactive technologies? Join Isobar for our first “Create 48” event, the first hackathon of its kind to explore the NFC chip inside the Google Nexus S, as well as other potential applications.

Near Field Communication (NFC) technology will let us make transactions, exchange digital content, and connect electronic devices like never before. Your phone will be your credit card, boarding pass, hotel room key, coupons at the supermarket. You’ll buy only the 3 minutes you need on the parking meter.

It’s an amazing future that can continue to emerge. Isobar Create 48 might be remembered as the tipping point – the pivotal two days – when NFC technology became more than a promise. And you might be remembered as somebody who made it happen.

What: Teams (your own, or one we help hook you up with) will develop, simulate and test apps for the NFC chip inside the Google Nexus S, as well as other potential applications. Experts from Nokia and the MIT Enterprise Forum/Boston NFC Hub will be on hand to demo applications and demonstrate how to program for NFC (i.e., what can be done, what can’t be done, etc.) And yes, we’ll feed and water you and help you stay sharp.

Where: Space With A Soul, 281 Summer Street, Boston MA

When: Around the clock: Tuesday, September 13 at 3:00pm - Thursday, September 15, 2011, 3:00pm. At the end, you hand your app over to judges from Google, WHERE.com, and Isobar.

The afterparty: Come back for Awards and a party that Thursday night, 7:00-10:00pm. We’ve lined up an esteemed panel of judges from Google, Where.com and Nokia who will award prizes to the top three winners, including cash prizes, a trophy we’re designing as we speak, and Google Nexus S phones for the winning team.
