6-Mile Scenic Phoenixville-Schuylkill River Loop Hike

Details
The Schuylkill River is lovely year-round, and our hike will treat us to river views 95% of the time.
This easy-to-moderate hike will start promptly at 10:00 AM, when we walk a flat 5-6-mile route that starts in the first, large parking lot at Lock 60, across the canal from the Lock Tender's House.
We will hike the eastern side of the river on the gravel, Schuylkill River trail, check out a nature center, field a small stream crossing, then cross the busy Black Rock Bridge. From the Black Rock Boat Launch, we will follow the dirt path along the western bank of the Schuylkill River. At the trail's end, we will return to the Lock 60 parking lot.
Although the hike is almost entirely flat, you should wear sturdy hiking or walking shoes and bring water, snacks and a smile. If it has rained, the trails on the Black Rock side will be very muddy.

Use the Lock Tender's House address: 400 Tow Path Rd, Mont Clare, PA 19453. Approach via the Lock 60 entry drive that originates across the street from Produce Junction, just off the Mont Clare bridge. GPS coordinates may be off a bit. Use Google maps to navigate for best results.
