Whether you're new to long-distance hiking or just curious about covering more miles in a single day, this beginner-friendly online lecture will help you build the confidence and skills to hike 20+ miles safely, successfully, and hopefully enjoyably. Jeff and Barbara Fritzinger are longtime AMC leaders and trainers and have completed many long hikes together.
We'll walk you through the essentials of planning, training, and trail strategy so you can push your limits while being fully prepared, managing the risks, and setting yourself up for not only success, but a lasting sense of pride and accomplishment. Topics include:
- Choosing the right route with check-in points and any group dynamics
- Understanding terrain, elevation, and safety factors
- Food, hydration, and gear essentials
- Training tips that encompass the many different needs to be successful
- Realistic hike-day strategies that help you stay strong to the finish
This session is interactive and designed for all experience levels—no prior long-distance hiking required. Join us via Webex and take your first step toward your own SuperHike adventure!
Special Registration Info: This workshop is a Field Trip, a type of AMC experience designed to explore a particular aspect of the great outdoors. Field Trips are open to both AMC members and non-members, but members get priority and come for free.
