Lehigh Gap East and West Side With Boulders

Details

Hike Details
We will meet promptly at 8:30 AM and walk over the bridge to hike the East Side of the Lehigh Gap to the parking lot. We will go up the AT and down the Winter Trail (blue blazes), returning to the East Side parking lot. We will then continue back over the bridge and follow the AT up the west side of the Lehigh Gap across the ridge until we encounter the blue trail for the second time. At that point we will head back with a hike across a boulder field, hook back on the AT, then back to the blue trail where we will descend back to the Lehigh Gap Nature Center.

The hike will be approximately 12 miles with 2500’ of elevation gain. Portions of the hike are very rocky and we will need to move more cautiously, but we will keep up a strong pace and target to return in 5 hours. While there will be short break to look at the view from the top of each side, expect this to be a hike with constant movement and minimal stopping for the most part.
This hike has multiple exposed areas. Bring enough water, electrolytes, and snacks that you’ll need. Sunscreen and bug spray are also advised.

Prior to joining the hike, a waiver must be completed on the AMC website by registering at https://activities.outdoors.org/s/oc-activity/a5UUN000001Yqzh2AC/act00015462

You will also find the parking and meeting location at the above website.
