Valley Forge Weekend Afternoon Hike in Autumn
Details
Join us for a hike at Valley Forge National Historic Park to get some good exercise, enjoy the scenery and meet new people.
The hike is approximately 5 to 6.5 miles. The difficulty level will be moderate, with speeds about 3 mph in the easier sections, and lower in hilly and uneven sections. Total elevation gain will be between 500 and 800 feet. Trails on Mt. Joy and/or Mt. Misery will be included as well as flatter areas. To make the hike more interesting, a different combination of various trails will be used each time the hike is offered. We will stop periodically, especially at the tops of hills and trail junctions so we all continue on the same hike.
Meet in the Artillery Park parking lot at one of the picnic tables .
Bring water, snacks, clothing appropriate for the weather (layers work well), sturdy footwear (hiking shoes or boots recommended), and a smile. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on a 6’ or shorter leash as required by the park.
If the hike is canceled, such as due to weather, the announcement will be made at least two hours in advance.
All participants need to sign a paper AMC legal waiver sheet prior to the hike if not registered on the AMC website. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who will need to sign the agreement for them. You are encouraged to register and sign the waiver online in advance here
