Lehigh River Watershed: How Land Use Changes Threaten Water Quality
Ibrahim Buyukcelebi of Penn Future will discuss how shifting land use patterns, particularly urban sprawl, warehouses, and datacenters, have intensified pollution and stress within the Lehigh River and its tributaries. These growing factors, along with existing ones such as dams and historical pollution, unfortunately make the Lehigh River one of the most polluted in the United States. This presentation highlights how changes in land cover and existing factors are driving ecological decline and what sustainable land management practices could help reverse these trends.
