Tyler State Park 5 MIle Orienteering Hike

Join us on fun moderately paced hike as we navigate the permanent orienteering course at Tyler State Park. Using our map and compass we'll find the course markers. This self guided course allows us to go at our leisure as we enjoy the park and practice our navigating skills. Beginners are welcome if you want to learn more about orienteering. The course itself is 3 miles so we'll have extra time to check out the park or find some geocaches.
This park is hilly with with total elevation gain less than 500 feet. I listed this hike as moderate due to the climbs and uneven trails.
We'll start at the boathouse in Tyler where there are rest room facilities. The address is 101 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA. The GPS coordinates are: 40.23258 N, 74.97295 W. We'll meet there before 10:00 AM and leave soon after. We'll make stops for water, snack breaks and discussion along the way.
Inclement weather may cancel hike. If doubtful, check the status of the hike on www.amcdv.org and check the activity calendar or contact the leader.
All participants will need to agree to and sign a paper AMC legal waver sheet just prior to the hike if you did not register online in the AMC Outdoor Connector.
