Hickory Run State Park Loop Hike.

Join me on an approximately 11 mile vigorous hike with a nice view of the Lehigh River as well as views of a few waterfalls. Hickory Run State Park contains 15,990 acres and more than 40 miles of trails. Our hike will be a loop through the west side of the park. We will start with the "Shades of Death" trail which can be a bit slippery, but is not expected to cause issues for experienced hikers. There should be about 1500 feet of elevation gain throughout the day and an overall speed of 2.5 mph is likely.

This hike is a terrible idea if you are not used to such walks. There is no excellent bailout point. Parking will be in the overflow lot by the new office (41.0241, -75.6879). Bring water and calories for four or five hours on the trail. Plan on signing AMC's waiver of liability at the trailhead. Questions or concerns, please text or call George at 484.919.6000. Rain/snow/ice of substance cancels. Please check Meetup comments. I'll post there at least 2+ hours before if I foresee a problem. Most often we cancel the night before if the forecast is negative.
