Green Lane Park, a 10 ish Mile Hike.

Please join me for a 10 mile hike around the upper reservoir at Green Lane Park. For added excitement we will do it backwards (counter clockwise). This will be a brisk loop, primarily around the 840 acre AQUA reservoir. There are a few minor stream crossings, two road crossings and a hill or three. Overall speed will be a be around 2.3 mph. Please come intending to keep up. There is no hunting in this Montgomery County Park. The trailhead is at the east end of Snyder Road. If you don't see a playground, you are in the wrong place. The hike is rated vigorous primarily for its 10 mile length.

Think about bringing water and calories for a few hours in the woods, Whatever footwear you choose may get a bit muddy or snowy. Charged cellphones and a positive attitude are often helpful. Cell coverage in here is good. Snow will, of course, extend the hike time. There are permanent facilities at the trailhead and plastic versions are scattered about like gnomes in an English garden. Clothing layers ... well you get it.

Plan on signing AMC's waiver of liability at the trailhead. You are most welcome to signup on AMC'S web site but please also sign up on Meetup. This allows both me and your fellow hikers to see who is attending, aids the vetting process and helps my almost nonexistent memory for names. It also allows for convenient communication. The fine print ... Rain/snow/ice cancels. I'll post on Meetup 2+ hours before if it looks like a problem. If the forecast is steadily poor, I will call it off the night before.
