Description:
Join AMC staff at the Tollgate Landing Trail Gap on the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail! We will be working on establishing a trail corridor between the Great Blue Heron Park and Trumbauersville Road, and a short connecting trail between Great Blue Heron Park and the Tollgate Landing neighborhood, strategically removing brush and small vegetation.
The Tollgate Landing Trail Gap is a gap in the PA Highlands Trail route that is located between the Barrel Run Trail to the west and the Brayton Garden Trail to the east in Richland and Milford Townships. For more information about Tollgate Landing, check out the PA Highlands website here.
We will meet at Great Blue Heron Park parking lot, then walk together to get to the beginning of the trail. Participants should plan to bring at least one liter of water, and a snack. They should wear durable boots or sneakers, and long sleeves/pants to protect themselves from thorns, poison ivy, and ticks. During the trail workday, participants will use handheld tools such as loppers, folding saws, and pruners. Proper PPE is required including hard hats, work gloves, and safety glasses, which will all be provided. This workday is beginner friendly! No prior trail building experience needed.
Please note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.
What is the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail?
The Highlands Trail in Pennsylvania is a connected trail network located in the 1.9 million-acre, 13 county Pennsylvania Highlands region. The 300-mile route spans across southeast Pennsylvania, from the Pennsylvania-Maryland border in Waynesboro to the Delaware River in Easton. The trail co-aligns with several other trails in the region, including rugged, natural surface trails, as well as paved multi-use pathways. Hikers may find themselves walking through dense forests with beautiful vistas, or through urban areas where shops and restaurants are just steps away. Find more information about the PA Highlands Trail on our website and check out our interactive map for more details on trail segments.
