Description:
Welcome!
Are you...
New to hiking?
Wanting to hike at a relaxed pace?
Trying to get more comfortable being outdoors?
Looking for a group of people to hike with?
Then sign up for this beginner-friendly hike in the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Network! All are welcome to join. See below for more details about this specific hike.
What to expect:
Approximately 2.5 miles, this hike will take place at the Bridgeton Nature Preserve Loop Trail. We will meet at 10:00 AM at the Bridgeton Nature Preserve Parking Lot (40.570170, -75.114094) . The terrain is a single-track, natural surface (packed dirt) trail. Expect the hike to have some rocky terrain, possible tripping hazards, and some sections will be uphill. Participants should plan to bring at least one 1 liter of water and a snack. Please also take the necessary measures to protect yourself from ticks (bug spray, long pants) and to dress appropriately for the weather. We recommend that you wear hiking boots or hiking sneakers.
NOTE: This hike will include crossing three small streams. Depending on the weather, these streams are typically only a few inches deep. However, they can make the surrounding rocks slippery. If you are unsteady on your feet or have issues with balance, this section may be difficult for you. If you'd like more information or a picture of this specific crossing, please reach out to me using the email below.

Where is the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail?
The Highlands Trail in Pennsylvania is a connected trail network located in the 1.9 million-acre, 13 county Pennsylvania Highlands region. The 300-mile route spans across southeast Pennsylvania, from the Pennsylvania-Maryland border in Waynesboro to the Delaware River in Easton. The trail co-aligns with several other trails in the region, including rugged, natural surface trails, as well as paved multi-use pathways. Hikers may find themselves walking through dense forests with beautiful vistas, or through urban areas where shops and restaurants are just steps away. Find more information about the PA Highlands Trail on our website , and check out our interactive map for more details on trail segments.
Please note: In order to comply with Pennsylvania Youth Protection Laws, all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. This policy applies for all events offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter as well as any other Chapter events within the state of Pennsylvania.
