Try Trail Work – Wolfe’s Neck Center
Details
Wolfe’s Neck Center | 9:00–11:30 AM | Meet at the Smith Center parking lot. That would be the lot to the left of the Smith Center greenhouse.
Get hands-on experience with trail maintenance during this 2-1/2 hour demo session! We’ll partner with Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment trail stewards to harden a 15-foot section of trail—removing topsoil and using gravel and glacial till to make it more erosion-resistant and durable for high foot traffic.
We’ll cover the basics of:
- Corridor design
- Light drainage tune-ups (cleaning dips and waterbars)
- Tread shaping and bench refresh
- Trail design principles: alignment, grade, and drainage
This is a great opportunity to learn by doing, meet fellow volunteers, and see how sustainable trail design keeps trails safe and enjoyable.
What’s Provided:
