[The Handmaid’s Tale] Book Club Meeting
Details
In honor of Women’s History Month, we’ve
selected “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood as our March book!
Margaret Atwood's 1985 dystopian novel, The Handmaid's Tale, depicts a totalitarian theocracy in the former United States called the Republic of Gilead. The story centers on Offred, a Handmaid forced to procreate for the ruling class, the Commanders, in a society that oppresses women and monitors every aspect of life. Offred narrates her tale of attempting to find freedom and individuality while following expectations to avoid physical punishment.
