We’d love to invite you to Cambridge for the next Applied Improv UK meet-up!

The plan? To discuss, learn, laugh, and play. Or more simply: to keep our community alive and buzzing.

We’ll kick things off with a few icebreakers, then do some quick introductions so everyone knows what experiences and resources are in the room. In the afternoon, the floor will be open to anyone who wants to share an activity or lead a favorite game. We’ll also make space to talk about challenges you’ve run into, questions you’ve been holding onto, or topics you’d like to dive deeper into. So start thinking: What’s bugging you? What’s exciting you? What do you want to play with?
We’ll close the day with a debrief (!) and a symbolic passing of the baton to whoever’s hosting the next meet-up.

Say hello to improvisation and begin to enjoy spontaneity, develop listening and collaboration abilities, boost your social confidence and future-proof your career skills.

In this free 90-minute taster session, you’ll:

• Discover the landscape of improvisation – how it shows up in performance, leadership and everyday life
• Have the opportunity to join in gentle introductory activities to flex your improv muscles
• Learn how to engage further in improv in Oxford, whether as a more-informed audience member at improv shows, a participant in one-off sessions, or taking a course that can lead to you performing.

This will be a safe environment to find out if improv is for you, to rediscover your self-expression and enjoyment of creativity. Please sign up soon, as numbers are limited to ensure a good experience for all participants.

Over six weekly sessions, you'll learn improv comedy via engaging activities, stories, short scenes and discussion. Discover the fun of letting go of perfectionism, creating spontaneously and playfully building confidence.

## Curriculum

Over six weekly evening sessions, you'll learn the art of comedy improv through a series of fun and engaging exercises designed to build your skills and confidence. You'll enjoy thinking on your feet, collaborating with others and bringing your unique perspective to every activity.
In a concise and organized sequence, topics include:

• Character
• Teamwork
• Narrative
• Status
• Embracing uncertainty
• Spotting success
• Short turn-taking
• Inhabiting the moment
• Confidence in your own voice and body language

The course isn't just for actors - it's for anyone looking to develop their communication skills – whether or not you want to take these skills onto the stage. It’s suitable for all levels of experience, actors and non-actors alike. Beginners especially welcome.

Improvisation appeals to business professionals keen to improve their public speaking, teachers hoping to engage students more meaningfully, and anyone who wants to have purposeful fun while meeting new people.
