ApprenticeSIP Forecast: The Future of Federal Support for Apprenticeships

Details

Amid a steady drumbeat of news about personnel and budget cuts throughout federal agencies, education and training leaders have been waiting to learn about the outlook for apprenticeship programs. The recent news out of Washington is murky at best.

The Trump administration has set goals for expanding registered apprenticeships, and proposed a directive that states spend at least ten percent of federal Make America Skilled Again funding for apprenticeship. But the administration’s budget request includes a reduction of $1.64 billion in workforce funding through the Department of Labor.

Please join us on May 28 when two experts dust off their crystal balls and forecast how the administration’s initiatives will affect the growth and viability of apprenticeship programs.

Krysti Specht is director, Center for Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning at Jobs for the Future. She is a long-time ApprenticeSIP member who previously worked at the Tech SF program of the City and County of San Francisco.

Harry Leech is director of Strategy and Program Development for Apprenticeships for America.

We look forward to seeing you on May 28 at 4:30 pm PDT. Please bring a friend.

Thanks.
