About us

My parents are Iraqis and I grew up in Germany. I have learned almost all Latin languages without much effort, but I have been struggling to improve my own mother tongue skills. Recently, it hit me: the reason for this is that I am very familiar with the Latin alphabet, which both German and the Latin languages use. Meanwhile, although I can read Arabic, I am not very comfortable and fluent with the letters. This poses a big barrier to learning the language; learning happens through reading and writing. Thus, not being fluent in the alphabet, makes reading and writing impossible. The only learning methods left are auditativ and visual learning, which are uneasy and insufficient.

All this means: in order to improve our Arabic skills, the foundation of reading and writing well needs to be established; further learning endeavors will then be much easier.

Therefore, I invite people like me, intermediate Arabic speakers to a Whatsapp group:
https://chat.whatsapp.com/GsPlEAiBHPL409ioxHXPRX

WHAT DO WE DO?:
There, you are asked to send an audio of you reading a piece of Arabic writing into the group everyday (of your choice or suggested by me). Alternatively or in additon, we send in a few sentences about our day (or a topic of choice).

This is a casual, social and very simple way of engaging with the Arabic alphabet. This is more than what many/most of us do at the moment.

PS:
I don't correct anyone's texts, personally, because I am learning myself. If you want to get an additional correction, you need to use a translater or AI (don't use chatgpt, they support weapon productions in the US - better: Claude or Lumo)

If you are more of a beginner or more advanced and you feel like you could benefit from this, of course you may join as well.

No space for trolls. Will be kicked out immediately!
