Last year we started at the Cathedral and took up the old Braga Road, this year we’re doing something a little more nuanced. We will start at Cordoaria, where pilgrims once gathered their thoughts right after having stepping out of the medieval core, leaving behind convents, courts, and cloisters. As we move northwest through Cedofeita, the route follows one of the oldest inhabited spines of the city, where Roman roads, parish churches, and artisans’ houses layered centuries of departures and returns. This was not a grand ceremonial exit, but a human one — a road of shopkeepers, washerwomen, students, and travellers heading north with hope stitched into their pockets.
Beyond Cedofeita, the city loosens its grip.

In Carvalhido, the Way becomes more porous, passing estates, old crossroads, and long-forgotten inns that once catered to weary feet. Here, Porto fades into a landscape of thresholds — not quite city, not yet countryside — where the pilgrim’s rhythm finally settles in. This stretch reminds us that the Camino is not just a line on a map, but a lived experience: a slow unpeeling of the urban world, step by step, as Porto quietly hands the traveller over to the road, and ultimately, to Santiago.
We’re not going that far but, we want to make a small celebration to cheer this new year, and celebrate the past once all the many impressions shared, the many sights and places covered but also to make new friends, and that new friends also make new ones, of course, that’s all hunky-dory, but nothing keeps a party going like food and drink - we will be provided food and drink at the end.
