What we’re about
The Institute for Architectural Research is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) collaborative forum, created to foster the purpose of pursuing architectural fundamentals. The Institute’s research focuses on matters of perception, image fabrication, cultural ecology, and spatial relationships between human experiences and societal concerns. The Institute is open to anyone with interest and appreciation of architecture, design, and art, while embracing the urban culture of New York City.
By joining this group, you will become part of the Institute's collaborative architectural community. We will notify Meetup members on architecture social events, lectures, exhibits, and workshops relating to art, design, history and theory.
Workshops offered by the Institute are for both beginning and advanced designers. Classes include college architecture preparatory courses for high school and college undergraduate students, portfolio design, hand drawing classes, and tutorials on digital design programs. We offer a wide range of opportunities, for all levels of experience, to learn about architectural principles. Our initiative is to link aspiring architects, artists, and designers with experienced professionals in order to promote a unique mode of learning.
Funding for events, in a large part, comes from donations, but in some cases, we may need to charge workshops to provide for materials and time. (100% of every purchase goes into yearly programming in teaching and research at the Institute for Architectural Research, Inc.) However, cost is free for members of the public with low income, this also includes students in middle and high school, or students currently enrolled in a University. Approval of free admissions will be review by the board of directors. If you would like to waive the cost of any workshop, please email admissions@architecturalresearch.org.
The core value of the Institute for Architectural Research is to cultivate a shared educational environment, seeking architectural innovations from all urban cultural backgrounds. The Institute encourages new ideas, concepts, and sharing of research in a diverse multicultural environment in the metropolitan area of New York.
