Talk Like a Pirate Day: A reading of The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster
Details
Ahoy! In honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, Arkansas Society of Freethinkers is hosting an informal outdoor reading from the Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster — the sacred text of Pastafarianism, whose adherents hold that climate change, earthquakes, and other natural disasters are a direct result of the diminishing number of pirates since the 1800s.
We'll be gathered on the public sidewalk at the base of the Capitol's third staircase (not on Capitol grounds itself). This is a casual, peaceful gathering, so a few practical notes:
Pirate costumes or colanders highly encouraged — please leave any sword, cutlass, or weapon props at home, since we'll be gathering in public.
Please no alcohol or open containers.
Bring a hand-held sign if you like but please no signs on sticks or poles.
Family-friendly, all freethinkers, Pastafarians, and curious pirates welcome.
Afterward, we'll head to Vino's for lunch — join us if you'd like to keep the fellowship going.
