Aravaipa Canyon Backpacking

With towering cliffs, flowing water and a rich diversity of flora and fauna, Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness remains as one of Arizona's truly unique areas.

Mileage: 12.25 miles one way with 430 feet of elevation gain, out and back
Water: Water flows through Aravaipa canyon year round
Weather: It will be hot! Expect temperatures around 90 to 95 degrees with specific updates to come closer to the date.
The plan: We will meet at Aravaipa Canyon West Friday evening to camp. We have permits for 4 cars and the trailhead is passenger car friendly. Saturday we will hike the 12.25 miles through the canyon to the east side and find a nice place to camp. Sunday we will hike back through the canyon to the cars.Carpooling arrangements to be made closer to the date.

Cancellation: We will keep any eye on weather and the trip would be cancelled in the event of lightning or flash floods.
