This is Day 6 of the 7-Session AMC Basic Outdoor Rock Climbing School.

NOTE: Signing up here does not register you in this class. For class details, registration, and payment, go to http://arizonamountaineeringclub.net/schools/outdoor-rock-climbing-school/

The full class spans two weeks with four weeknight sessions and three full weekend days out on the rock at various crags. You will learn fundamental top-rope climbing skills including: equipment selection and usage, rope handling, climbing knots, climbing calls and partner communication, belaying, rappelling, climbing techniques, and basic self-rescue.

For Day 6, we'll be indoors and in-person at Phoenix Rock Gym, where we will practice self-rescue skills including escaping the belay, and using prusiks to ascend the rope, and rappel past a knot or obstruction. We'll also coordinate details for the upcoming Grad Climbs.

What do I need to bring?
You will need climbing gear including: harness, helmet, several carabiners (locking and non-locking), belay/rappel device, sewn slings, and your prusik cords. You will NOT need climbing shoes, but should wear hiking boots or other sturdy footwear, preferably with ankle protection.
