Irish Dancing Night🍀
Details
Let's go Irish dancing! I've gone to a number of cĂ©ilĂs and really enjoy both the group dancing and the traditional Irish music. No experience necessary since a dance caller will walk us through the steps. And no need to bring a partner, since we will get paired up there.
A cĂ©ilĂ, pronounced KAY-lee, "is basically an Irish dance party. These are community dances that are designed to be simple enough for everyone to learn and dance together. (It’s really nothing like Riverdance or Irish dancing competitions, if you’re familiar with those.) There are no complicated steps to learn. Just a few simple repeated movements that anyone can do."
The event has a suggested donation of $10 per person.

All are welcome! (Especially families, students, older adults, and anyone who loves Irish music!)
If you’re able, we ask for a suggested donation of $10 per person or $20 per family, which supports our band leaders, dance caller, and the educational mission of Powers.
- Learn about and participate in Irish music and dance traditions
- Listen to fiddle and folk music (or even play in the open band!)
- Try some simple Irish “ceili dances” with instruction from a dance caller!

Ellery Klein, Artistic Director for Powers’ String Traditions summer program, Irish music sessions, and fiddle department
Jaclyn O’Riley, dance caller, founder/director of O’Reilly Irish Dance
Natasha Sheehy, accordion
Devin McCabe, piano
Fiddlers, Irish flute/whistle, concertina, accordion and pipes are welcome to join the open
band, led by Powers fiddle teacher Ellery Klein.
Email fiddlerellery@gmail.com if you’d like to be in the band!
Accessibility information: Powers currently requires guests to go up a short flight of stairs to the main floor of the school. We are committed to improving access to our building for those with limited mobility. The school is in the early stages of this large and important project, but there is no formal timeline set for when it will be started/completed as of yet.
