Come and have a go at speaking & develop your communication and leadership skills!
We're Plymouth's Toastmasters club, Armada Speakers - and every 3rd Tuesday of the month we meet up at the Copthorne Hotel to practise our speaking and communication skills in a fun, safe, friendly environment.
They'll be an opportunity to have a go at some speaking and we're a super welcoming, supportive club.
We've all been there, coming along to a session unsure of what to expect. Do not worry, you will be among friends! You're welcome to just observe, no participation is necessary, though you're very welcome to have a go!
This session, we are holding our competitions! Which means that the classic session plan (below) is slightly different, in that the prepared speeches will be competition speeches and also an impromptu speaking competion for our members, this means that guest participation may not be available - however you're welcome to come and observe!
Session plan (rough timings):
7 - 8: Prepared Speeches.
In the first half of the session, we have the prepared speeches that our members have planned.
Each of these speeches will be evaluated with feedback about the speech given to the whole group so we can all learn.

Break
8-9: Impromptu Speaking.
In the second half of the session, we have what we call Table Topics. This is the part where everyone gets a chance to speak if they want to. We give people a random topic, and you try to speak on that topic for 2 minutes - don't worry if you can't make it to 2 minutes, it's all about just having a go!

This will be an impromptu speaking competition for our members, meaning guest participation is unlikely to be available due to time.
Despite this being a competion session, we'd still love to see you, and you're welcome to observe and see what being a member has to offer!
