About us

The world was made for mankind.
The modern world was made for machines.
We mean to fix that.

We are the Army Defending All Mankind (ADAM).
We fight for humanity in an increasingly inhuman world.

"If a house is so built as to knock a man’s head off when he enters it, it is built wrong." -G.K. Chesterton

The Problem:

*Modern civilization (social, cultural, political, economic, and in all other aspects) is not built to benefit human beings.
The world produces more wealth per capita than ever before in history, yet there is more poverty. The things that we could live without, like TV, games, and phones are all widespread and relatively cheap. The things that human beings have desired most for all of history, like homes, education, space and time to raise their children, leisure time, and good health, are expensive luxuries beyond the means of an increasing proportion of the population. If modern civilization was built for human beings, why does it serve them so poorly?

*Civilization is built, and is every day being rebuilt, in the service of systems, machines, algorithms, equations, and abstractions.
The most significant decisions in our lives are made by markets, algorithms, and abstract systems and rules. These are totalizing forces, not fully understood by or controlled by any human being. The scope of their influence over the world has grown, and continues to grow, and left unchallenged presents a direct and serious threat to human liberty and the value of human life.

*It doesn't need to be this way. If you find yourself driving to somewhere you don't want to go, you make a turn. If your house, or your civilization is built on a bad foundation, you alter the foundation, not to destroy the structure, but to save it.

The Solution:

We are the Army Defending All Mankind (ADAM).
We fight for humanity in an increasingly inhuman world.
We do this by:
*building a network of friends and like minded human being who can stick together and get things done
*organizing and practicing the efficiency and discipline it takes to act as a team
*social and cultural engagement, messaging, and communication of ideas
*political organization and action where applicable
*speaking or protesting in resistance to the conquest of humanity by inhuman things
*building alternative structures to the failing inhuman structures of the modern world
*training in skills, processes, and strategies as needed to accomplish our mission

We are the Army Defending All Mankind.
We want to change the foundations of the modern world.
We want to win the world back for mankind.
We want you to be a part of it.

SOME NOTES:
*ADAM is NOT a part of left/right politics; we want to rally around a common cause, and welcome the diversity of ideas that make up mankind. This is not an echo chamber or a place to exclude anyone based on their personal ideas, except in so far as those ideas are directly relevant to our mission.
*ADAM DOES expect everyone involved to be able to agree on the core mission, and to be able to (within reason) accept group decisions or the decisions of our organizers for the sake of working together as a cohesive unit.
*ADAM is not one thing; it's a bit of everything. It's an artistic movement and a social movement and a political movement and an economic movement and everything else it needs to be to challenge anti-human systems.
*ADAM is not purely a think-tank of a club to chat with people or talk politics or philosophy, though it might contain all of those things. ADAM is about ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THE WORLD. There will not always be infinite time to discuss and build consensus on all our fine ideals. Sometimes we have to live with 'good enough', and start marching.
*ADAM is an experiment in how to change the world, and will forever be a work in progress; be patient, and express yourself if something isn't working. We are always growing and adapting. Adaptability is one of mankind's greatest strengths.
