What are pendulums...and what do they have to do with aromatherapy?
Details
In ancient times, and even today, the practice of dowsing was used in the search for underground water, minerals, or even lost objects. This practice, whose origins can be traced back thousands of years, utilized natural substances like "Y" shaped, pliable branches from the willow or hazel tree...often called a dowsing or divining "rod".
Much in that same tradition, pendulums, also created from natural materials like crystals or gem stones, have been used for divining purposes when much of the information needed to make a decision is unknown.
I have used pendulums for years in concert with essential oils. In the "old days", when my former business partner Barry and I were still developing relationships with essential oil suppliers from all over the world, if I had a question about the quality or farming/production method of an essential oil, I would use my pendulum to hone in on what might be "off" about it. Was it adulterated? Was it diluted? Was it truly "certified organic" as it had been represented to us? Was it a blend?
I also use a pendulum if I am doing an aromatherapy consultation over Zoom or the phone, and we are deciding among various choices as to what might be more effective for, or pleasing to, the client.
These are but two examples of how I have appreciated the "guidance" offered by a pendulum in choosing or using essential oils.

It's fun and often enlightening to use all of the wisdom the natural world has to share with us.
