What we’re about
View and discuss some of the best art in NYC while meeting other art lovers!
About once or twice a month, we explore the art scene of a selected city neighborhood by visiting 5-8 galleries chosen from among many more previewed (in person) by the host. In addition, exclusive talks by artists, gallerists, dealers or other experts give us greater insight into the exhibits.
Places we go often include Chelsea, Tribeca, the Lower East Side, Soho, and the Upper East Side, with occasional forays into other parts of Manhattan or Brooklyn (Bushwick, for example).
Unlike art museums, galleries change the works on display frequently. This makes each tour a new experience, even if we have been to an area many times before.

Low-Key NYE Dinner
SEE EVENT DESCRIPTION / DETAILS FOR LOCATION AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFO - THE MAP IS WRONG!, ., New York, NY, USLooking for a way to celebrate the new year with others but without the usual craziness? Well then, join us for a nice social dinner that officially ends at 9:00pm (so you get home at a reasonable hour).
========================================
IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
- Everyone pays in full for what they order, plus tax and tip. (The venue has agreed to give us separate checks.)
- There is a $5 non-refundable event fee to attend, which must be paid in advance and is in addition to the cost of your meal. This prevents excessive no-shows, which would make an accurate restaurant reservation impossible and also disappoint the people who actually come. The funds will be used to help cover the organizer dues that I pay to Meetup.
- Please do not ask to pay the $5 at the event. That would completely defeat the stated purpose.
- Prepay via Ticketleap or Paypal. Either way, after paying online, please check your credit or debit card account to make sure the transaction went through.
- Confidential registration: If you don't want your name or picture to appear on this page, then simply purchase your spot without doing an RSVP on Meetup.
- Registration deadline is 2 pm on New Year's Eve. At that time, a final headcount will be given to the venue. Anyone not tallied in that number will not be seated with the group.
- Emergency contact phone for "day of" is (917) 680-0656. Send an "old-fashioned" text directly to this number and please include your first and last name. Do NOT attempt to reach me via email, Ticketleap, Meetup, or any other Internet-based channel, as those methods are not reliable on my phone. Also, no voice calls, as they interfere with each other when received simultaneously (which happens a lot).
- We will be eating at: Green Kitchen, 1619 Second Avenue @ 84th Street (NW corner), NYC. Closest subway: Q at 86th Street.
- This event was created specifically for members of my Meetup groups and private email lists, their guests, and special invitees.
- Please note that the total RSVP count includes people coming from other Meetup and non-Meetup groups. It is manually updated every 12 - 48 hours and is NOT an arbitrary number. However, also remember that "no-shows" can never be accurately predicted.

A couple of highlights:
- paintings on handmade bark cloth by an indigenous artist born in Peru. They reflect the culture and often tragic history of his clan (White Heron) and nation (Uitoto).
- a solo show by a major African-American artist who passed away in 2024, famous for her "narrative quilts".
Plus at least three more!

IMPORTANT:
- After paying online, please check your credit / debit card account to make sure the transaction went through.
- RSVP on Meetup is optional and does NOT reserve your spot or lock in the price. Please use the blue Ticketleap or Paypal link above.
- Emergency contact for "day of" is (917) 680-0656 if you are late or lost. The voicemail greeting will list our first one or two stops. For all other info, send an "old-fashioned" text directly to my number. Do NOT attempt to reach me via email, Meetup, Ticketleap or any other Internet-based channel, as those methods are not reliable on my phone.
- If you have bought a ticket but cannot attend, you have two options. To get a credit toward a future art tour or walk, notify me via direct (not Internet-based) text, voice call, or voicemail. This must be done BEFORE the listed start time so that the group does not get stuck waiting for you. Alternatively, you can send someone in your place; at check-in, simply have him or her mention the name under which you paid.
- Sorry, no refunds unless the event is cancelled or rescheduled.
- The tour will last two to three hours. Afterward, we may go somewhere nearby for drinks, food and socializing if there is interest.
