belArts is offering a live artist demonstration on how to use soft pastels with award winning artist, Karen Christiansen hosted at Chrome Street Studios

“Layering and Texture using Soft Pastels”

with Karen Christiansen on Saturday 24th January, 2026, 2-5pm

Join us for a pastel demonstration with Karen Christiansen, who will share one approach to creating depth and interest in pastel artworks.

Karen will demonstrate how purposeful application of pastel primer, together with underpainting can form a strong and textural foundation for your pastel work. She’ll also explain different application techniques for layering to create depth in a subject.

Karen will have various papers, pastels and other materials on hand to introduce soft pastels to anyone who is interested in exploring this immediate and expressive medium.

This is a fantastic opportunity to watch, learn, and be inspired by Karen’s creative process. Don’t miss it!
