Expressive Arts Workshop with Julie Plotkin
ART House 360, 401 W Verona Ave, Verona, WI, USThis is a ticketed event at Slate Blue Studios. Free events are posted at ARThouse360.com.
Also held on Sunday, March 13th from 1:30-3:30pm. Choose one or both sessions.
In this unique workshop, teaching artist Julie Plotkin will hold space and offer guidance for us to connect to our creative innards, trust our inherent creativity, and gently lay aside our doubts. Beginning with a circle and brief check-in, followed by a guided meditation, we will then move into creating visual art. We'll be prompted to do some writing and return to our circle and have the opportunity to share and witness each other's work and experiences.
While this is a structure that Julie will follow, there is no requirement to do any of the prompts. You may arrive and feel like gently swaying, or a desire to stare out the window, or write for the entire time. That is all ok and doesn’t diminish your place in the workshop.
About Multi-Modal Expressive Art:
Often, moving from one creative modality to another while holding the thread of curiosity can bring knowledge or coalescence. This creative practice allows our art to arrive, surrendering the need for it to look a certain way. It's an opportunity to explore a question, intention or an open curiosity through multiple creative modalities, like painting, writing, movement, sound making (including voice and instruments), fabric arts, collage, etc.About the Teaching Artist:
Julie Plotkin received a masters degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Expressive Arts from Goddard College in Vermont in 2016. Since then she has maintained a personal expressive arts practice through the self study courses and online workshops at Expressive Arts Florida Institute. Julie has offered small gatherings to help explore the vitality and utility of creative practices. She is delighted to collaborate with Slate Blue Studios and ART House 360, and offer space for creative exploration.$69, all materials included. Register at Slate Blue Studios.
