## About Susan Clifton

Susan Clifton is a contemporary mixed media artist whose creative journey began in South Philadelphia, where she spent her childhood immersed in art and dance. After studying at the Philadelphia College of Art, she moved to New York City and built a successful career in advertising, working with iconic brands like Danskin, Bottega Veneta, and Blackglama. Mentored by industry trailblazers such as Jane Trahey, Richard Avedon, and Saul Leiter, Susan sharpened her skills in design, photography, and composition before relocating to South Florida. There, she expanded into catalog production and later became an early adopter of web design, all while continuing to paint privately.

Today, Susan is best known for her unique “fabric mosaic on canvas” style, particularly her acclaimed “Grey Matter” series, which blends figurative imagery with inspirational self-talk and positive themes. Her work often combines custom-printed text fabrics with vibrant acrylic painting, creating thoughtful pieces centered on worthiness, letting go, and personal growth. A dedicated member of the South Florida arts community, she has exhibited widely, served as vice president of the South Florida Artists Association, and was an Artist in Residence at Bailey Contemporary Arts. Susan also shares her process and insights through her YouTube channel, which has grown to over 28,500 subscribers, further extending the reach of her uplifting and innovative art.
