Exhibition and Discussion: MMCA - "Transport to Another World"

Details

Are you interested in art? but you don’t know how to enjoy it well or are looking for a better way to appreciate it?
Then, you are in the right place! 😊

In Korean, we say “행복은 나누면 배가 된다.” (if we can share happiness, it becomes double.)
Let’s go to art exhibitions/meuseums ‘together’ and make the happiness of appreciating art ‘double’!

What can an art exhibition do?: (just for fun or as our discussion points)
"An art exhibition can connect forms visually, showing contrast, difference, indifference, agreement between objects.
An exhibition can gather ideas together, and point to them, within and beyond the gallery.
An exhibition can be a form of knowledge production.
An exhibition can be visualized research.
An exhibition publicizes an artist.
An exhibition organizes a chain of ideas and forms.
An exhibition is a medium itself.
An exhibition is classroom.
An exhibition is a public gathering space.
An exhibition is lab.
An exhibition can be a night club. (really?)
An exhibition can lead to another exhibition.
An exhibition can be the end of an idea.
An exhibition can be the beginning of an idea.
An exhibition can draw a public.
An exhibition can be living research.
An exhibition can be a political act.
An exhibition can be a private experience.
An exhibition can be a mediative space.
An exhibition can be a destination.
An exhibition can be shut down.
An exhibition can kind of be anything.
An exhibition can do what you intend and also things you never intended.”

How It Works:
1. Meet and Greeting (15:00)
- We will meet right in front of the main gate of the place and share short greetings each other.
2. Experience Individually or as small groups (15:10)
3. Discussion Together (16:30)
- We will meet again in a café nearby or any place to talk comfortably to share our experience and opinion about the exhibition.

We're surrounded by more information than ever before. Anyone with a mobile device can look up details about the past, the present, the other side of the world—even things happening in space. All that data is available at our fingertips. We can digitally travel to a city on the other side of the globe and view it through photographs, we can peek into the day-to-day lives of the locals, and we can access information about places and time periods different from our own. Yet has all this access to information truly given us a better understanding of the people that lived in a different place during a different time? Of the events that happened to them? Can we truly be sure that the answer to these questions is "yes"?
