The exhibition features works by artists like Lotti van der Gaag, whose 1966 painting reveals the profound emotional turmoil of a personal experience—an abortion—and how it has been largely ignored in the broader art world. The exhibition addresses the contrasting ideals of motherhood, from the mythical Madonna figures to more modern, gritty representations like "Shit Mom" by Tala Madani, which humorously yet poignantly portrays the messiness and realities of being a mother in today’s world.
