For the 12th event in our Great Exhibitions series, we’re heading to the beautiful city of Maastricht to explore the stunning solo exhibition “A Land As Big As Her Skin” by Mounira Al Solh at the Bonnefanten Museum.

Mounira Al Solh is a Lebanese-Dutch artist whose work blends video, installation, embroidery, painting and storytelling into deeply poetic, political, and personal reflections on war, displacement, womanhood, and myth. This is her first major solo show in the Netherlands, after representing Lebanon at the Venice Biennale in 2024.

Her installations are intimate, layered, and often humorous. Whether she’s turning Zeus into a harmless goat or stitching childhood trauma into pyjamas, her work invites viewers to reflect on fragility, survival, memory, and the quiet power of reclaiming stories.

This exhibition is one of the most talked-about shows of the season, and we’ll walk through it together with plenty of time for discussion, curiosity, and reflection.

🪑 After the visit, we’ll go together to Café Forum, one of Maastricht’s hidden beer gems. With a curated tap list that includes local craft breweries (like Zuyd) and international highlights, it’s the perfect spot to continue the conversation over a great beer. This moment is an integral part of the event — not just a social extension, but a chance to decompress and deepen our thoughts in good company.
