🕒 15:00 – Meeting point: In front of Statenpoort, Nieuwstraat 23, Hoorn
Let’s spend a relaxing and fascinating Sunday exploring Hoorn, a beautiful 17th-century maritime town full of character, history, and charm.
Once the capital of West Friesland and a major port city during the Dutch Golden Age, Hoorn offers cobbled streets, stately gabled houses, scenic harbors, and a rich past shaped by trade, exploration, and resistance.
During our walk, we’ll discover:
🔹 The Rode Steen square, once a place of justice and execution
🔹 The Hoofdtoren (1532), a medieval defensive tower turned café
🔹 The unicorn-adorned Waag (weigh house)
🔹 Old warehouses on Bierkade where German lager once arrived
🔹 And views over the harbor that inspired the name Cape Horn
After the walk, we’ll head to De Klinker, a cozy local café known for its quality beer selection – from local stars like Rotjoch Brewery to international craft picks. It's the perfect place to relax and chat after our historical stroll.
Everyone’s welcome – whether you’re into history, photography, architecture, or just a good Sunday outing with nice people.
