๐ 15:00 โ Meeting point: Entrance of Kasteel Ruurlo
Join us for the 13th edition of Great Exhibitions, our series exploring must-see exhibitions across the Netherlands โ and this one is truly special.
Weโre heading to Kasteel Ruurlo, a beautifully preserved medieval castle tucked into the woods of the eastern Netherlands. This detached location of Museum MORE is currently hosting the immersive exhibition โTernauwernoodโ by Jemima de Jonge โ a rising star of the Dutch art scene.
De Jonge (b. 2001) constructs strange, evocative worlds out of cardboard, video, maquettes, and stop-motion animation. Her work blurs performance, sculpture, and film into poetic, surreal experiences that shift between beauty and unease. Think gargantuan tongues, uncanny dinner scenes, distorted scales, and narratives looping without beginning or end โ all taking place in the dreamlike halls of a castle.
๐ After the exhibition, weโll head to De Tapperij โ the one and only beer cafรฉ in Ruurlo (which is a small village!) โ a warm, laid-back spot where we can relax and have a drink together. On tap: a few interesting local and regional brews, such as those from Ondersteboven Brewery.
This event blends contemporary art, fairytale architecture, and village charm. Not to be missed.
