Hidden in the mountains of Campania lies one of Italy’s true white-wine sanctuaries: Irpinia.

A compact, rugged and profoundly volcanic land where altitude, tufaceous soils and ancient grape varieties come together to create some of the most characterful wines in the country.

For the 10th edition of Tell Me Wine, we travel deep into this extraordinary sub-region to explore its diversity, its history and its unmistakable identity.

### Why Irpinia?

Irpinia is not a single wine — it is a mosaic of expressions:

  • Fiano di Avellino — elegant, layered and long-lived
  • Greco di Tufo — powerful, saline and deeply mineral
  • Falanghina — vibrant and expressive
  • Aglianico — the noble red of the south, including its more structured Taurasi-style expressions

All of this is shaped by volcanic, tufaceous soils (the very “tufo” that gave Greco di Tufo its name) and by a mountainous climate that brings freshness, tension and longevity to the wines.

### The tasting

We will taste 12 wines from two carefully selected producersCantina del Barone and Ciro Picariello — allowing us to compare styles, grape varieties and interpretations within the same territory.
This will be a full journey through one of Italy’s most exciting wine landscapes.

### More than just wine

As always, Tell Me Wine is not only about drinking — it is about understanding wine as culture.

The tasting will be accompanied by carefully selected regional snacks from the region, chosen to highlight the deep relationship between what grows in a place, what people eat there, and how wine naturally fits into that ecosystem.
