Variety in art refers to the use of visual elements and techniques to create interest, contrast, and complexity within an artwork.
During our meeting we will explore Variety and discuss its meaning, why it’s necessary to have variety, if we can have too much or too little of it and still have a successful painting.
Please watch the videos and read the texts in the links below; although the theory is very similar across them, it’s interesting to see many different artworks that show variety in many different ways. Please bring one or more paintings either of your own or from another artist so that we can discuss together how variety is/isn’t achieved.
