Gardens, Art, Lunch, Coffee, Cake - Badminton House Open Gardens
Details
Join me for a look around the lovely Badminton House Gardens on one of their few open days of the year. Last year they had a stunning tulip meadow along with other lovely spring flowers. There is also a beautiful Italianate church which is usually open and an exhibition A Garden of Botanical Art will also be on display in the Old Hall. There will also be food, drink plants and flower sellers.
An optional smaller garden is sometimes open for £2.50 extra charge. They don’t seem to mention it at the moment, so perhaps it is only open for the summer open garden.
Cost Adults £10 pre-sale or £14 on the gate.
Seniors (60+) £7.50 pre-sale or £11 on the gate. **The weather looks pretty good for Sunday and I’ve bought my ticket, but please have a look at the forecast & make your own decision. The cheaper advance purchase tickets become unavailable at some stage closer to the event, but they don’t say when. They definitely weren’t available on the morning of last year and possibly not the night before.
Meet near the ticket desk. It takes a bit longer to walk from the car park to the ticket desk than you think, so please allow a bit of extra time.
### From their website: "DIRECTIONS

If travelling from the North heading South then please DO NOT follow your Sat Nav down a private driveway and through the Park. You must go through Little Badminton Village."
"Explore the gardens of the historic Badminton House, home of the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort.
The beautiful gardens of Badminton House are open three times a year in April, June and September. Visitors can witness the seasonal changes of the gardens starting with tulips in the spring through to the roses and dahlias in the summer.
There is a great variety of plants to view, from the formal beds on the east side of the house, designed by Russell Page, to the South Garden with its water squares, hedges, beds and borders. Glorious displays of roses and borders of soft summer colours are combined with herbaceous perennials, campanulas, penstemons, geraniums and phlox. The Walled Garden, a short stroll from the house through the park, is home to the Badminton House kitchen garden, providing fruit and vegetables as well as cut flowers for much of the year. An archway, running the full width of the garden, is covered with roses, clematis, wisteria and yellow laburnum. The greenhouse is used for propagation and houses a fine display of pelargoniums.
There will be a selection of plant and flower sellers, plus food and drink available from a range of stalls.
The exhibition A Garden of Botanical Art will also be on display in the Old Hall, with prints available to buy in the shop.
