What we’re about

Friends of Art History, Architecture, and Decorate Arts, plus Travel, would be the longer name. This is a community for those who have a serious interest in these subjects, perhaps because of your academic background, professional work, or strong personal interest. The scope is global: art and architecture across the world. (My own background is in Asian, European, and Middle Eastern art.) People over age 40, including seniors, are encouraged to join. This is set as a private group in Meetup, so only basic information about the group can be viewed by non-members.

This group serves residents of Seattle/Eastside/Puget Sound Area in Washington State, USA. There is a corresponding Facebook group that also serves residents in other locations; please see the information at the end of this message.

We will meet to view a museum exhibit, attend a lecture or other relevant event, and for those who would like to converse afterwards, followed by a meal or cocktails and appetizers at a nearby restaurant. There will also be informational only messages about relevant events (no meeting) that interested members can use. If there is an event that you would like to post in this group, please send me the information. If you would like to host a small group at the event, please contact me to set it up as a meetup (meeting) hosted by you.

Additionally, I organize one or two overseas trips a year to culturally rich locations in the world—in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East—and look for travel companions. These trips have beautiful architecture and interiors, art museums, attractive gardens and landscapes, and atmospheric dining experiences. They are ideally suited for those with artistic sensibilities or have a visual orientation. These are comfortable trips at a moderate cost. They will be described here as well. If you are interested in travel with a focus on art and architecture, please contact me for more information.

You are also encouraged to join the corresponding Facebook page for this community. (As Meetup's software is more geared towards creating meetings, and Facebook's software is more geared towards posting messages, the content of the two groups will differ somewhat.)
