Art in Tech Meetup | Dustin Bolton - World Building In The Digital Age

Details
Hey Art in Tech ATL!
Our January speaker is Dustin Bolton, discussing World-Building Through Technology.
From the Speaker:
Have you ever wondered how one person or a group of people can conjure up characters and stories in wholely new worlds?
Where does the idea manifest and how does one go from the seed of inspiration to a series of books, games, and movies.
As a young artist drawing alone in my bedroom, I dreamed of doing just that. Now as an adult and having years of experience as a professional animator, I’m going to discuss the thought process, skills and tools I developed that lead to landing a publishing deal for my first original graphic novel series, Kudzu.
About Dustin:
Dustin Alexander Bolton is a dynamic artist and writer driven to tell stories that evoke the human spirit. His passion for creating worlds formed in his early years growing up in Memphis, from reading his older brother’s comics, watching animated shows, and exploring digital art. Early exposure to digital animation applications drove him to pursue a career in the creative arts. Dustin earned his Bachelor of Arts in Film and Animation from Rhode Island School of Design before beginning his professional career in Atlanta, GA. Early in his career, he was an animator on several popular adult swim shows and his roles have since evolved through various advertising roles for major brands, including Disney, Warner Media, and AT&T. Dustin’s debut graphic novel from Boom Studios (KUDZU: Heart of the Mountain) is inspired by the high tech-fantasy in 80’s pop culture and sci-fi films, the magical worlds crafted by Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki, and the rich cultural heritage of African American families in the southeastern United States.
