Make Your Mark with Seth Apter

Join Seth Apter for a one-day workshop, creating mixed media collages that focus on abstract but meaningful shapes, symbols, and marks. Instead of representational objects or words to express meaning, we will instead use marks and symbols. Beginning by creating backgrounds with the Gel Plate using paint and ink, guided creative exercises to build your vocabulary in mark making and to understand the meaning behind your go-to symbols will take place. From there we move on to adding our marks to the artwork, using many of the core processes of mixed media: stamping, stenciling, mark making, and collaging. The discoveries you experience enhance the artwork created in your own practice, perhaps even providing a new form of language that you can use for creative expression.
