🍂 ARTEMIS FALL FOLIAGE HIKE 🍁

The leaves are changing, the air is getting crisp, and we think that is a pretty solid excuse to go wander around in the woods together. 😂

Join us for an easygoing fall foliage hike through Bent Creek at Hard Times Trail — just a few minutes from Asheville.

🍁 THE PLAN

📍 Hard Times Trailhead
📅 November 5th
⏰ Meet at 4:00 PM
🥾 Hike starts at 4:15 PM

We’ll take the Hard Times Trail at a relaxed group pace, soaking up the changing leaves, chatting, taking approximately 700 unnecessary photos of trees 😂, and enjoying that very specific ✨fall in the mountains✨ feeling.

The full Hard Times Loop is about 6 miles, but we will NOT be doing the entire loop for this event. We’re keeping this one shorter and turning around based on our group pace and available daylight so we can enjoy the trail without racing back to the cars in the dark.

😂 probably at least one person saying “wait, this is SO pretty” every 10 minutes

Hard Times is generally considered an easier/moderate trail with a gradual feel rather than a giant mountain climb, making it a good option for a social after-work hike. The area also connects into a much larger trail network, so there are plenty of ways to explore depending on the group and conditions. (Explore Asheville)

🥾 WHAT TO BRING

Fall in the mountains can be a little unpredictable, so dress for “warm at the trailhead, colder than expected once the sun disappears.”

✔️ Comfortable hiking shoes with good traction
✔️ Water
✔️ Light jacket or fleece
✔️ Extra layer — especially if you’re someone who gets cold easily
✔️ Headlamp or small flashlight JUST IN CASE
✔️ Bug spray if you’re still getting eaten alive 😂
✔️ Small snack if you need one
✔️ Phone + portable charger
✔️ Rain jacket if the forecast is questionable

🍂 IMPORTANT: Leaves + rain = slippery roots and rocks. If the trail is wet, expect some mud and watch your footing. Fall foliage is beautiful; eating dirt is optional.

🚗 PARKING

We’ll meet at Hard Times Trailhead, 375 Wesley Branch Rd. Parking can get busy, so please try to arrive a little early and allow yourself time to get parked.

🌙 AND BECAUSE IT’S FALL…

Sunset comes early. We want enough daylight to actually enjoy the trail and get everyone safely back to the trailhead.

No assigned book.
No required reading.
No guilt if you haven’t read a single page this week. 😂

Instead, bring whatever book you’re currently reading and come hang with us.

🫶 First 30 minutes — SOCIALIZE
Grab a drink, meet new people, talk books, make friends, and settle in.

📖 Next 60 minutes — READ
Everyone pulls out their own book and we have a cozy hour of reading together. Think communal reading date, but with your new bookish friends.

🌙 Last 30 minutes — THE CHAOS
Every meetup ends differently. We might play a ridiculous bookish game, make a craft, swap books, shop from a local creator, have a mini book discussion, or just hang out and talk about what we’re reading.

And here’s the fun part…

📍 WE’RE MOVING AROUND.

Every meetup will be hosted at a different local small business around Asheville + WNC.

Coffee shops. Breweries. Bookstores. Wine bars. Cute little shops. Creative spaces. Places you may have never discovered otherwise.

Because we’re not just here to read books — we’re here to find our people, discover new places, and support the small businesses that make our community special. 🖤

There is a small one-time joining fee of $15.00 for membership to pay for crafts, bookish supplies and continue to support our local community growth opportunities. This fee can be paid online or in person at the meet up.

🍂🎨 PAINT THE FALL WITH ARTEMIS 🎨🍂

What if we took our paint supplies, hiked up to one of the prettiest overlooks around Asheville, and painted whatever the hell we wanted while the mountains turned gold around us?

Yeah. We’re doing that. 😂

✨ PAINT THE FALL FOLIAGE AT CRAGGY PINNACLE ✨

⏰ Meet at 5:30 PM
📍 Craggy Gardens / Craggy Pinnacle Overlook

We’ll take the short, easy hike up to the overlook together, set up our little outdoor art studio, and spend the evening painting while we watch the fall colors and sunset.

🎨 NO ART EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.

We’ll have:
🖌️ Paint supplies
🎨 Everything you need to create your masterpiece
🧑‍🎨 A fun instructor there to guide you and give you ideas
🖼️ Your own easel
🍂 An absolutely ridiculous mountain view for inspiration

But this isn’t a “paint exactly what the instructor paints” kind of class.

Paint whatever you want.

Paint the mountains.
Paint the leaves.
Paint the sunset.
Paint your dog from memory.
Paint something completely abstract because you have no idea what you’re doing. 😂

There are no rules. Just come make something pretty outside with us.

💰 $10 per person

The $10 covers your paint supplies + easel.

You can pay ahead of time through the Artemis website or pay in person when you arrive.

🌅 WHY 4:30PM?

We’ll hike up, get settled, paint, and enjoy the fall foliage while the sun goes down.

We’ll stay through the end of sunset, then pack everything up and head back down before it gets too dark to comfortably make our way back to the parking area.

🍁 WHAT TO BRING

This is a short, easy overlook hike, but remember: mountain weather has a personality of its own. 😂

Bring:

🥾 Comfortable shoes with good traction
🧥 Cozy layers / warm jacket
🧢 Hat or beanie if you’re a cold-weather girlie
🧤 Gloves if your hands get cold easily
🧺 Your own blanket to sit on / cozy up with
💧 Water
🥨 A snack if you want one
🔦 Small flashlight or headlamp — just in case
☔️ Rain jacket if the forecast looks questionable
📱 Phone/camera for all the fall foliage photos

And please dress warmer than you think you need to. Once the sun goes down at elevation, it can get chilly FAST.

There is a 15$ joining fee for new book club members. This is a one time fee to cover the cost of our prizes, crafts and experiences that we will have at each meet up. If you’re new to the book club there is a sign up on my website to pay or I’ll have the option to scan and pay upon your arrival.
