Downtown Evanston transforms itself into an incredible showcase of all types of original art when the Evanston Art & Big Fork Festival opens for a three day show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 16, 17, 18.

Located on Evanston’s main streets (Sherman and Church) in the heart of one of the North Shore’s magnificent lakefront communities, 150 juried artists from around the country will show and sell their art including paintings, jewelry, mixed media, photography, sculptures, ceramics, hand made furniture, home accessories and more!

Live music on three stages, great food, drinks, and tasty treats from local restaurants, artist demonstrations, a variety of kids’ activities in the Kids Art Zone, and the popular “Start to Paint” on-side painting classes create a fun and festive family-friendly event. Be sure to look for the designated “Kid Friendly” booths where artists welcome children into their space to learn more about the art making process.

New this year, guests are invited to take part in a community drum circle on Saturday at 12 noon and 2 pm. Drums will be available or bring your own!

Admission to the festival is free and there is plenty of parking (for those taking public transportation, the Davis Street Metra and CTA stations are just steps away). The show is wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Attendees are invited to bring their gently used art to the festival where it will be donated to the Chicago Furniture Bank, a nonprofit that distributes furnishings and art to those leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing. Several artists from this show are participating in Amdur Productions’ Green Ribbon Project. Artists place a green ribbon on a piece of art in their booth, and if the piece is sold, 10% of the sale will be donated to Amdur’s charitable partner, which is the Chicago Furniture Bank.
