Detecting Fake Accounts with Artificial Intelligence

On virtually every social media platform nowadays, there are fake accounts impersonating celebrities and influencers often used to defraud their fans and followers.

Finding these fake accounts with search-based methods analogous to random walks is a challenge because such methods will inevitably take a very long time. Alternatively, platforms can wait for users to report fake accounts but this is an unreliable method.

In this presentation participants will see a method using joins on tabular data, libraries like spacy, and vectorized operations using AI to identify fraudulent accounts in a completely automated way.
