60th Meetup: AI in Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Applications

Details
Dear AI Enthusiasts,
We're absolutely thrilled to announce our 60th special meetup, and we'd like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible community for making this journey possible. This significant occasion is marked by an exceptional lineup of talks focusing on the groundbreaking integration of AI within pharmaceutical and biomedical applications.
Kevin Li will be discussing a groundbreaking research paper on enhancing RNA-seq data analysis with Guided Transfer Learning (GTL), focusing on the pre-training of an AI on the extensive recount3 dataset. This method significantly improves the AI's ability to tackle downstream tasks with few samples, showcasing a notable advancement in handling high-dimensional, low-sample-size omics data.

Together with Fetch, a US-based tech-enabled insurance and wellness company, Dr. Christian Debes and the team at Spryfox GmBH created a platform that can predict the medical future of dogs. At its core, they developed a machine learning algorithm that uses data from over 725,000 dogs and 16 years of claims data to predict 45 disease categories. In this session, Dr. Christian Debes will share a) the details of the algorithm, b) why descriptive AI was critical to success, and c) how a platform approach enabled the rapid spawning of new use cases.
