Agenda
18:00 – 18:10; Reception
18:10 – 18:15; A welcome note from Organiser & host/sponsor
18:15 - 18:45; Speaker I: Dr. Carlos Garcia Cordero from CGI
Title: Security and AI in the Management of Earth Observation Data
Abstract: Observing the earth with the help of satellite sensors is mostly a data-centric task that relies on processing large amounts of information. Machine Learning is quickly becoming a key tool in the Earth Observation (EO) domain, just as in many other domains that process large amounts of data. However, due to the nature of how EO data is used, the data itself and the algorithms that process it must be secured. In this talk, Dr. Carlos will discuss how machine learning can be used to secure and guarantee the authenticity of (publicly available) EO data. Furthermore, the speaker will also discuss the different security considerations needed to protect machine learning algorithms that work with EO data.
18:45 - 19:15; Speaker II: Sascha Dölker from Deutsche WertpapierService Bank AG
Title: "Navigating AI – a strategic perspective of success factors"
Abstract: The presentation explores with the audience the transformative potential of Generative AI (GenAI) with the perspective of the strategic “big picture”. The strategic impact on the workforce and resulting organizational change is discussed and better practices from the GenAI journey of Deutsche WertpapierService Bank AG is shared. The presentation emphasizes the importance to enable senior leaders not solely on a use case level, but rather on a strategic level to navigate AI on corporate roadmaps and tap its transformative potential. Additionally, the presentation outlines practical guiding principles to help organizations navigate GenAI focusing on human-centered approaches and strategic long-term thinking.
19:15 - 19:45; Break (food & drinks)
19:45 - 20:15; Speaker III: Milos Vlainic from Völur, Norway
Title: Why AI projects fail?
Abstract: Since the launch of ChatGPT (which occurred almost two years ago), the AI sector has attracted significant resources yet failed to produce a single groundbreaking application. Why has this happened? In this short talk, Milos will share with us engaging stories briefly starting from personal and ramp-up towards global AI failures and successes. He will also delve into both the apparent and the subtle elements that must be considered when developing any AI-based products, services, or startups.
20:15 – 20:30; Announcements (open positions, demos etc.)
20:30 – Socializing
All talks will be in English and the event is free to attend! So do not miss this event!
