We will show how to get started on the Google Cloud Platform using tools such as Big Data and machine learning, how to visualise this data and save time and money by only crunching the data when we need to.
You will have a better understanding of how Googles toolset is best for specific challenges and give a short use case of how this has been implemented to overcome those challenges.
Some of the demos will include learning how to query billions of rows in seconds using Google BigQuery.
How to install and run a Jupiter notebook in a Cloud Dataproc cluster and integrate ML libraries such TensorFlow and PySpark. Demo of Google’s pre-built ML APIs such as Vision.
Bring your laptops with, there are practical exercises to work through if you would like to.
The Speakers
Kimoon Kim is a Google Certified Cloud Trainer, with an academic background in both Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand. He serves as a Co-Organizer of the GDG Cloud Johannesburg and GDG Cape Town and is well-known in the GCP community for speaking on machine learning, big data and dark data on Google. His research addresses a variety of topics relating to Human-Computer Interface and Computer Vision with Machine Learning. He has assisted and enabled numerous start-ups to scale by incorporating machine learning and data science approaches on the Google Cloud Platform.
Prinavan Pillay leads the Google Cloud Training and Specialized Consulting teams at Siatik, with an academic background in both Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand. His focus at Siatik involves driving technological innovation and empowering others with the tools required to help businesses scale and grow by incorporating the latest cloud technologies. As a Google certified trainer, Prinavan also works directly with the Johannesburg Center of Software Engineering (JCSE) and Wits University to provide Google Cloud Certification Courses, IT Skills Development, and other training initiatives across the country.
