🚦 Overdrive: Building a Racing Robot
In this talk we will introduce the Entelect Challenge and what it is about. How to enter the challenge yourself and win the tournaments to get to the finals at Comic con. We will give an overview of the systems making this possible (the new game-engine written in Scala), and an overview of the serverless cloud architecture and containers to make it possible.
🐱👤About the Entelect Challenge Dev Team
A team of smart, creative, and hardworking individuals that developed the game engine, back-end platforms, and website to make this initiative happen. These passionate people have volunteered to make their contributions and have spent much of their own time ensuring that the challenge is the best it can be.
🚀 Machine Learning and Data Science in production
Machine Learning is sometimes very academic and merging it to industry issues sometimes requires many adjustments in terms of what to do or what not to do. This talk will drive through my experience as a Data Scientist and how to include your academic Machine Learning Knowledge.
👨🎨 About Julien
Julien is a Data Scientist/Software Engineer @ Entelect and is based in Johannesburg. I was part of the team that implemented the backend of the app https://www.kalido.me/ that use machine learning to match users.
👽 Augmented Reality: The future of HCI and its relevance to decision support
This talk aims to provide a brief introduction to AR, discussing core concepts, different paradigms and available tools. Thereafter, we dive into some exciting use cases to highlight the potential that AR brings to the future of HCI (Human Computer Interface) and decision support for personal and professional decision making.
🧟♂️ About Avashlin
Avashlin Moodley is a Senior Research & Development Scientist based in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Augmented Reality (AR) Research Group at the Emerging Digital Technologies for 4IR Research Centre, CSIR. He holds a MIT Big Data Science degree from the University of Pretoria where his research focused on the application of natural language processing (NLP) to analyse the 2019 SA election from the perspective of news articles and tweets. His primary focus within the CSIR is on leading the development of new and innovative solutions leveraging AI & AR to aid in decision support in multiple domains. In the last five years, he has been involved in many technology-driven projects ranging from the commercialization of Text-To-Speech software, conceptualizing and developing AR experiences, software development and applied machine learning research in NLP.
ℹ️ Info
We've expanded the topic range of the meetup to include anything "future tech" such as IoT, VR/AR, Game development, Cloud, etc. We're also trying to include a lightning talk at each event exclusively for new presenters to help encourage more people to share their work and gain experience speaking and interacting with the community. So get in touch to speak 💯
