Hello Members, we had 4 votes in total for the book discussion and The King’s Painter: The Life and Times of Hans Holbein, by Franny Moyle received 2 of the 4 votes. The Tudors are always a popular subject for everything from romance fiction to architecture studies. This book did get excellent reviews so I think it should be a good read!

From what I can tell from the reviews, due mostly to lack of historical data about his life the author focuses on Holbein's style and iconography to create a picture of the painter and his times and in doing so creates a very enjoyable book.

Also in case you can't read all of the book we'll be focusing mostly on the chapters that touch on the Holbein works seen in the exhibition.
