Artists of Governors Island! 🏝 🌞 🛳

What would you bring if you were stranded on an island?! Friends and drawing supplies, of course! The city's favorite art group will travel to Governors Island for a special adventure! Along with our drawing session, we will visit a collection of art studios on the island showcasing contemporary Latin American art with a tour from one of the artists in residence, Wildriana Paulino!

When stepping off the ferry, walk straight ahead to the point where the road splits into two directions. We will meet on the island at that fork in the road. The ferry will leave from 10 South Street and will arrive at Soissons Landing. There are ferries every 30mins. We will catch the 12:30 pm ferry. Tickets are normally $5 dollars for the round trip!

We will work in short drawing sessions to learn as much as we can through our studies in relation to time and the elements of building an image. We will also perform sharing exercises to help build skills around communication and connectivity. Afterward, we extend an invitation to all participants to join us for a group dinner to talk art and catch up!

We highly advise you to arrive early so you don't lose the group once we are on the island. We also advise bringing a bottle of water! We look forward to sketching with you!

We offer a safe space for artists to be part of a community and to express themselves fully. We are all-inclusive. We are here to listen and connect with artists from around the world. The Met is home base but we also work at other museums and popular locations throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Please bring your own supplies - anything you like to work with - pens, pencil, a small sketchbook or large paper, iPad, whatever suits you.

Your RSVP for this event does not count as a ticket for any institutions we meet at. Please still purchase your ticket at one of the vendors in the museum
