What we're about

Our work focuses at the moment are on baby/toddler sensory play & craft work, hands on process art techniques, creative nature activities and post natal/baby yoga. We aim to create a cozy and Hygge-lig environment in whatever we do, to promote connection with one another and just to allow our hair let loose.

Our mission at art.of.hygge is to create a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. Hygge (hoo-gae) is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment. The warm glow of candlelight is Hygge. Cozying up with a loved one for a movie – that’s Hygge, too. And there's nothing more Hygge than sitting around with friends and family, discussing the big and small things in life. Live the Hygge way!

(https://artofhygge.wixsite.com/website/termsandconditions) ================== About the teacher ================== Mama Huiyun, a certified Rainbow Kids Yoga Instructor and a stay-at-home-mother of 2 young boys, she spends part of her time hosting Mommy & Me Yoga, baby & toddler sensory play, movement & music play dates for babies and toddlers, and more recently kids baking/cooking workshops at home. This year, she plans to extend her work with young children by bringing in the forest school concepts through organised nature walks. She is a strong advocate of Reggio Emilia Approach, believes that children form an understanding of themselves and their place in the world through interactions with others. At Art.of.Hygge, the environment is set up like as it is- a warm and welcoming home, where kids feel safe and secure. It is only when kids feel safe and secure that they are able to learn and process best. (see http://www.aneverydaystory.com/beginners-guide-to-reggio-emilia/main-principles/) She also deeply believes that Yoga itself has an unique healing power. It calms the mind down and increase self-awareness and in the long term, overall well-being. In this fast paced society (like Singapore), kids (even babies or toddlers) have higher stress levels compared to a few decades ago. The stressful emotions from a parent may be translated to the baby or the child, unknowingly. Yoga allows one to switch from the "doing" mode to a "being" mode. Introducing yoga to kids at a young age is beneficial as it primes them for their busy lives in years ahead- to be aware of their own limits, to slowly but surely push towards a higher ground, to show gratitude to little things in life, to know when and how to slow down and recharge, to accept who they really are and be comfortable in their own skin.
